Learning to play an instrument

If you would like to learn to play a musical instrument, what instrument would you like to play?

Try to think or a few ideas in case your top choice isn't available straight away. Caerphilly Music Service provides all sorts of lessons including brass, wind, strings and percussion.

Remember that your voice is an instrument too, so you might want to think about singing lessons.

Children who attend a Caerphilly County Borough school may be able to borrow an instrument for free (subject to availability) and have free lessons (some schools may make a small charge).

Discuss your ideas with the class teacher or music teacher. They will know how to get you started.

Once started, time will have to be set aside for regular practice. Later on there will be opportunities to join bands, orchestras or rock bands.

Playing music can help develop concentration, team-working and social skills.

If you attend a schools in Caerphilly county borough and are interested in learning to play a musical instrument, you or your parents can contact the Caerphilly Music Service for more details.
