Gambling Act 2005 - Statement of Licensing Policy

The Council has completed its review of its Statement of Licensing Policy, which sets out the way it deals with applications for premises licences for betting offices, adult gaming and family entertainment centres and when granting permits for gaming and gaming machines in clubs, pubs, etc.

The current Licensing Policy was approved at full Council on 17th November 2015 for implementation on 31st January 2016. In accordance with the Act, the Licensing Policy must be kept under review and, in any event, the Council must review the policy every three years.

A consultation process was undertaken that included writing to the bodies and individuals originally consulted, by means of public advertisement in local newspapers and by accessing the Council’s website. As a result of that process, the Licensing Policy was updated taking into account the relevant comments received and having regard to the Guidance issued by the Gambling Commission.

On 13th December 2018, full Council formally adopted the revised Licensing Policy. The Policy will be published on the 1st January 2019 and will be implemented on 31st January 2019. Alternatively, copies can be obtained from the Licensing Section, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Council Offices, Penallta House, Tredomen Park, Ystrad Mynach, Hengoed, CF82 7PG.
