Gwnewch y Pethau Bychain - Make One Small Change – June Pledge
Posted on : 20 Jun 2022
Welcome to the next edition of the Gwnewch y Pethau Bychain - Make One Small Change.
We have two separate pledges again this month, one for the Welsh Language and one for Equalities, both can be found below- we do hope that you will be able to get involved.
This month I pledge to befriend a vulnerable adult.
June 20th – 26th is Learning Disabilities Week – an annual campaign all about ensuring the world hears what life is like if you have a learning disability.
The theme for 2022 is reconnecting with friends and communities, with many people with learning disabilities still facing issues regarding isolation, poor mental health and anxiety following COVID restrictions.
Which is why we are challenging you to donate your time to help vulnerable adults in Caerphilly.
Although our volunteering and befriending service was temporarily on hold due to COVID restrictions, we are still looking for volunteers to sign up ready for the service to be relaunched.
Register your interest today to be linked with vulnerable adults who share similar interests, values and hobbies as you.
Activities as a volunteer can vary from picking up the telephone to have a chat, to spending time going to the cinema or shopping, all of which will help a vulnerable adult feel more connected to their local community.

This month I pledge to start and end all conversations in Welsh.
By simply adding these few words into your vocabulary, you are integrating the Welsh language into your everyday life.
Starting conversions with a Welsh greeting may also work as an ice breaker, encouraging others to reply in Welsh and so on.
Give it a go and see how you get on.
