Updates for parks throughout Caerphilly County Borough
Several urban and country parks throughout Caerphilly County Borough are set to see improvements as part of the Council’s Cleaner Greener Initiative.

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cleaner Greener Initiative is a £1 million initiative aimed at maintaining streetscape, public open spaces and countryside.

Improvements will include Tree Planting Initiatives in parks throughout the Borough, and investments into four new weed removal machines to help improve the visual aspect of town centres and parks.

Morgan Jones Bowls Club in Caerphilly has seen major investments with new roof tiles, fascia boards, soffit boards, rainwater goods and updated UPVC windows installed. Additional improvements to Morgan Jones Park are also planned, including resurfacing of footpaths and the construction a new wall supporting the tennis courts, which will showcase attractive “smiley face” brickwork.

Town centre clean ups in Rhymney, Bargoed, Blackwood, Caerphilly. Risca and Ystrad Mynach are currently ongoing involving weed removal, cut backs of overgrowth, installation of new street bins and various repairs to infrastructure.

Councillor Nigel George Cabinet Member for Waste, Public Protection & Street Scene explains: “Back in 2019 we became the second of all Gwent local authorities to declare a climate emergency and commit to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.

Part of this commitment is taking care of the green spaces that we have here in the Borough and creating cleaner, greener places for everyone to visit.”
