Marriage and civil partnership fees
Below are the fees and charges for 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020.
- Enter notice of marriage or civil partnership £35 (per person)
- Consideration by a Superintendent Registrar of a divorce or civil partnership dissolution obtained outside the British Isles £50
- Consideration by the Registrar General of a divorce or civil partnership dissolution obtained outside the British Isles £75
- Ceremony in the Statutory Register Office, Penallta House (smaller room for couple and 2 witnesses only) £46
- Ceremonies in Craig Penallta, Penallta House (larger ceremony room seating up to 70 guests)
- £221 (Monday to Friday)
- £300 (Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays)
- Ceremonies at other approved venues
- £286 (Monday to Friday)
- £410 (Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays)
- Marriage or civil partnership in a religious building other than in the Church of England or Church in Wales, the fee for a registrar to attend is £86
- Marriage in the Church of England or Church in Wales - Information about fees will be available from the vicar of the church in which you wish to marry.
Other additional fees payable in certain circumstances
- Superintendent Registrar to attend outside his/her office to be given notice of marriage of a house-bound or detained person - £47 housebound, £68 detained
- Superintendent Registrar attending to conduct a marriage at a residence of a house-bound or detained person - £84 Housebound, £94 detained
- For registrar attending to register a marriage at the residence of a house-bound or detained person - £81 housebound, £88 detained
- For authorised person attending outside his/her office for attesting the necessary declaration of civil partnership of a house-bound or detained person - £47 housebound, £68 detained
- For Civil Partnership Registrar attending for signing the civil partnership schedule at the residence of a house-bound or detained person - £81 housebound, £88 detained
Certification for worship and registration for marriage (Payable by trustee of the building)
- Certification of a place of meeting for religious worship - £29
- Registration of a building for the solemnization of marriages between a man and a woman - £123
- Registration of a building for the solemnization of marriages of same sex couples (building previously registered for the solemnisation of marriage between a man and a woman) - £64
- Registration of a building for the solemnization of marriages of same sex couples (building not previously registered for the solemnisation of marriage between a man and a woman) - £123
- Registration of a building for the solemnization of marriages of a man and a woman (building previously registered for the solemnisation of marriage of same sex couples) - £64
