Approved venues

Coronavirus information: The situation is constantly changing in respect of the legal proceedings for marriages and civil partnerships. Please contact registrars for up to date advice on 01443 863478 or registrars@caerphilly.gov.uk.

Civil marriages and civil partnerships may be solemnised in a variety of premises. These include hotels, stately homes and historic buildings licensed by the local authority. These locations are known as ‘approved venues’.

As well as the ceremony rooms at Penallta House that offer excellent facilities, there are other venues in Caerphilly county borough licensed to perform marriage or civil partnership ceremonies:

Bryn Meadows Golf Club

Caerphilly Castle

Llancaiach Fawr

Llechwen Hall

Maes Manor Hotel

Shappelles

Newbridge Memorial Hall

Ridgeway Golf Club

Is there a charge for ceremonies at an approved venue?

In addition to the costs of giving notice, there is also a charge for ceremonies to be held at approved venues. These fees are usually payable about one month prior to the date of the marriage.

For the latest fees visit the charges and fees for marriages and civil partnerships webpage.

Booking a registrar for your service

You may book registration officers from Caerphilly district to attend your marriage or civil partnership at these venues up to 3 years before the ceremony

We will take a £50 booking/administration fee when you book. This fee is deducted from the final ceremony fee but is non-refundable in most circumstances if the ceremony does not go ahead.

When you provisionally book the ceremony, we will confirm the dates when you are legally able to give notice and will expect legal notice to be given as soon as you are able to do so. Giving legal notice will allow us to confirm the ceremony booking.
