Fire safety

Each year firefighters in Wales attend over 2,000 accidental fires in the home.  Most people can change something about their daily routine or simple things around the home to reduce the chances of having an accidental fire.  Most people are lucky enough to get out alive but hundreds of people suffer injuries and 63 people have died in accidental house fires in Wales over the last three years.

South Wales Fire & Rescue Service offer the opportunity to have a FREE fire safety check  in your home. This will be carried out by fire officers from your local fire station in Caerphilly county borough. The visit takes about 30 minutes and officers will provide and install free smoke alarms, heat detectors and carbon monoxide alarms where risk is identified (alarms for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are also available)

Officers look at each fire safety request received to make sure they give you the right service. You may not need a visit but will instead be given up to date guidance about how to reduce the risk of fires starting in your home and FREE smoke alarms should you require them.

If you are a member of the public and wish to book a fire safety check please visit the request a visit section of the South Wales Fire & Rescue Service website.
