Bryn Engagement Group Meeting - 19 October 2023 Update from Environmental Health

Dust

Unfortunately, a technical issue with the dust monitor means there is no report available for this meeting. Specialist contractors are working to resolve the problem.

Since the last meeting, no complaints have been received relating to dust.

Noise

Since the last meeting held on the 5 June, there have been a total of six complaints relating to noise. One relates to noise from a vehicle reversing alarm at the quarry, three relates to noise from the quarry, one relates to vibration from a blast and one relates to noise from a fan.

All complaints have been responded to and complainants have been updated.

Odour

Since the past meeting there have been total of eight complaints relating to odour, made by a total of three people.

Five of these complaints coincided with spreading operations. Of these five, officers visited on three separate occasions and did not witness odour.

The other three complaints were received when there was no spreading taking place.

Unfortunately, despite several requests not to do so, one of the complainants continues to email an officer direct rather than notifying our contact centre. This means inevitable delays in responding, as the officer works part time and may be on site visits and therefore not able to respond to emails. A phone call to the contact centre will provide a much quicker response and allow officers (when available) to attend to investigate the allegation.

An additional three complaints were received via Natural Resources Wales, however names and addresses are not provided and therefore cannot be investigated.
