Community Centres

CCBC community centres network consists of 35 buildings within the county borough. Each vary in size, age, and type i.e., internal, and external “offer” to potential hirers/users. However, all to serve the same purpose: - to offer residents the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of social, recreational and/or educational activities, and events within their locality – “area of benefit”.

What can volunteers do?

Although all the community centres are in the ownership of the local authority, they are leased to management committees who manage them on a day-to-day basis. Each management committee has charity status, and works on an entirely voluntary basis, elected by the residents of the area it serves.

You could become part of the committee to help with various roles such as treasurer, secretary, chairperson, or as a committee member to be involved in the daily operations and/or decision making for the community centre.

What can you expect from us?

  • be part of a supportive team
  • opportunity to meet new people
  • access to appropriate training

How do I get involved?
