Gambling Act 2005

The Council has completed its review of its Statement of Licensing Policy, which sets out the way it deals with applications for premises licences for betting offices, adult gaming and family entertainment centres and when granting permits for gaming and gaming machines in clubs, pubs, etc.

The current Licensing Policy was approved at full Council on 26 January 2022. The Policy will be published on the 27January 2022 for implementation on 28 February 2022. In accordance with the Act, the Licensing Policy must be kept under review and, in any event, the Council must review the policy every three years.

A consultation process was undertaken that included writing to the bodies and individuals originally consulted, and a consultation accessible on the Council’s website. As a result of that process, the Licensing Policy was updated taking into account the relevant comments received and having regard to the Guidance issued by the Gambling Commission.

The Policy is available to view via www.caerphilly.gov.uk. Alternatively, copies can be obtained from the Licensing Section, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Council Offices, Penallta House, Tredomen Park, Ystrad Mynach, Hengoed, CF82 7PG or by contacting 01443 866750 or via licensing@caerphilly.gov.uk.
