How to vote

Before you can vote your name must be on the electoral register. Voting is completely confidential and you can cast your vote in one a number of ways.

• Polling stations

  Most people choose to vote in person at a polling station.

  Vote at our advance voting centre in person.

  Voting by post

  Voting by post is an easy and convenient way of voting without having to go to a polling station. 

• Voting by proxy

  A proxy vote enables the elector to appoint another person to vote on their behalf.

  Young voters

  Turning 16 brings with it new rights and responsibilities, including being eligible to vote for the first time.
