Caerphilly County Boroughs annual Welsh Public Library Standards report deemed a huge success
Welsh Governments Welsh Public Library Standards assessment has been carried out on the Caerphilly Library Service for 2021-2022.

This framework provides a mechanism to enable service providers to plan their provision, and for the public to know what they can expect from their library service.

In the positive report, it was showcased that the Caerphilly Library Service provided evidence that fully met all 12 core entitlements, some of which include:
  • All libraries are free to join and open to all
  • Our libraries provide appropriate safe, attractive, and accessible physical spaces with suitable staffed opening hours
  • Libraries provide access to services, cultural activities, and high-quality resources in the Welsh language etc.

The report also highlights that in the reporting year, the service had 79 active borrowers per 1,000 residents, representing a 172% increase from the previous year. Other positive observations made in the report include how all libraries within the county borough focus on wellbeing objectives and education, as well as ensuring the availability of Welsh language resources.

Cllr Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education and Communities, commented “This is a hugely successful report which recognises how the needs of our communities are being met through the Caerphilly Library Service. Thank you to all library staff for their committed efforts to deliver such a high-quality service to the residents of the county borough.”
