Council calling residents eligible for Winter Fuel Support Scheme
Posted on : 08 Feb 2022
Caerphilly County Borough Council is currently calling residents who they’re aware are eligible to receive a payment under Welsh Government’s Winter Fuel Support Scheme.
The council’s Rents Team is attempting to call all eligible residents and support them in completing their application over the phone. Calls from the team may appear as a private number and so the council is encouraging residents to answer.
During the call residents will be asked to provide their bank details, as without this information a claim cannot be submitted. If applicants do not have a bank account, a relative or trusted friend’s can be used.
If a resident is unsure about the identity of a caller, they are advised not to share any personal information, ask for the officer’s name and contact the council on 01443 811450 or by emailing
tenancysupportoffice@caerphilly.gov.uk
to confirm if the call is genuine.
Through the Winter Fuel Support scheme eligible households can claim a one-off £200 payment to provide support towards paying their winter fuel bills. The scheme is open to households where one member is in receipt of working age means-tested benefits at any time between 1 December 2021 and 31 January 2022.
All applications must be made by 28 February 2022.
Residents in the Caerphilly county borough can also see if they’re eligible and apply online.
