Caerphilly County Borough gets the Green Flag
Caerphilly County Borough has been awarded 26 Green Flag and Green Flag Community Awards for 2024/25 – the second most of any County in Wales.

The Green Flag Award, delivered in Wales by Keep Wales Tidy, aims to connect people with the very best parks and green spaces. The awards benchmark parks and green spaces, so visitors know wherever there is a Green Flag, they’re visiting an exceptional place with the highest standards.

Some of the fantastic green spaces across the Borough to receive the award include: Cwmcarn Forest, Morgan Jones Park, Parc Penallta as well as a range of community spaces such as Aber Valley Community Allotment and Eco Park Cefn Forest, to name a few.

291 sites across Wales have been awarded Green Flag and Green Flag Community Awards. A total of 199 Community sites marks a record high for Wales, which now proudly holds more Green Flag Community Awards than any other country delivering the Green Flag scheme.

Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Waste, Leisure & Green spaces said: “We are thrilled to announce that CCBC has been awarded the second most Green Flag and Green Flag Community Awards in Wales.

“This news a testament to the natural beauty that we have here in Caerphilly County Borough, and to the work that our team and volunteers carry out year-round, to keeping our green spaces looking so great.

“A big thank you and well done to everyone involved.”

Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, Huw Irranca-Davies, said: “I am delighted that Wales now has more community-awarded green flag sites than any other country in the world!

“We are already ranked as the second-best recycling nation in the world and today’s news is another example of how Wales is leading the way and we are working towards a stronger, greener nation.”
