Council reminds tenants that the way they rent is changing
Posted on : 30 Nov 2022
Caerphilly County Borough Council is reminding tenants that the way they rent will be changing from 1st December 2022.
The Renting Homes (Wales) Act is the biggest change to housing law in Wales for decades. It will improve how homes are rented and managed in Wales.
Under the new law, tenants will become ‘contract-holders’ and tenancy agreements will be replaced with ‘occupation contracts’.
The Council will begin sending out new occupation contracts in early 2023. Tenants have been asked to ensure that their contact details are up to date so that the Council can send them copies of their new contract.
Contact details can be updated online
or by returning the form recently sent out to all tenants.
Council tenants do not need to do anything else as their current tenancy will automatically convert to the new contract.
