Two hugely successful Lantern making workshops have taken place in Caerphilly in time for the River of Light Lantern Parade that will happen along with a firework display and the Caerphilly Winter Fair on Saturday 3rd December.

On the first weekend of the lantern making that was held in the Twyn Community Centre on 19th and 20th November, there were 348 lanterns made. On the second weekend of the lantern making which was held in Caerphilly Library on 26th and 27th November, there were another 573 lanterns made. Comments were made by stewards that it was the busiest they had seen the lantern making workshops.

Altogether, there have been an amazing 921 lanterns made and a total of 1045 attendees to the workshops.

This fantastic parade, which is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and funded by Caerphilly Town Council, will start from the castle side of Crescent Road, on the grassed area opposite Owain Glyndwr Playing Fields (CF83 1AB) at 6.30pm. The parade will flow through Dafydd Williams Park at the front of the castle finishing in Twyn Car Park ready for the fireworks finale at approximately 7:15pm.

If you haven’t made a lantern come along to watch the spectacular parade or create your own lantern at home. Everyone is welcome, this will be the first lantern parade and fireworks display the town has seen since 2019.
