Would you like to run a community facility?

Calling all community groups and residents who would like to step forward to manage a community asset.

Caerphilly Council’s Community Asset Transfer policy ‘CAT’ provides an opportunity for assets such as buildings, land or facilities to be transferred to individuals, community groups or clubs to run.

We have three exciting but very different opportunities that are open to expressions of interest.

The Opportunities:

  • Hafod Deg: Located at 55 High Street, Rhymney, this two-storey building is ready to be transformed into a vibrant community hub.
  • Tredegar Park Toilets: Situated on Tredegar Street, Risca, this single-storey building offers a unique chance to improve and maintain a vital public facility.
  • Land at Dan-y-Graig: This land in Risca presents an opportunity for community groups to develop a project that will benefit and enrich the local area.

Cabinet Member with responsibility for Property, Cllr Nigel Georoge said, “We have some fantastic community groups across our county, and I feel strongly that we can work together to provide opportunities to run buildings and facilities to empower their growth and long-term success.”

He continues, “We intend to bring more opportunities to the market and ask those who may be interested to discuss this with a skilled and dedicated team of professionals who can support individuals and groups through the application process and beyond. I would urge residents to get in touch with the team and find out more about.”

Why should you do this?

CAT opportunities provide more than just a lease; they offer an opportunity to make a real difference in local communities. By participating in this initiative, local groups can enhance community services, foster collaboration, and take responsibility for managing valuable community resources.

How to Apply

We encourage interested community groups and or clubs to submit the expression of interest form by the 30th of October.

Proposals should outline the vision for the asset, demonstrate community involvement, and include a sustainability plan. Additionally, a commitment to manage and maintain the asset is essential.

Support and Guidance:

The Council is committed to providing comprehensive support throughout the application and development process. From initial guidance to ongoing assistance, we are here to help community groups succeed.
