Local businesses at Tredomen Business and Technology Park given full fibre boost by Ogi
Posted on : 24 Sep 2024
Local businesses are set to benefit from new multi-gigabit-full fibre speeds as part of a deal agreed between Ogi and Caerphilly County Borough Council.
The Tredomen Business and Technology Park is home to some 30 local businesses from law firms to accountancy practices and innovative tech startups.
Through the deal, Ogi has completed the install of a new bespoke ‘Ogi Pro’ full fibre business network at the business park – leveraging its £5million network build in nearby Hengoed. Offering affordable business-grade connectivity up to 8Gbps from day one, with capacity to increase as demand grows.
As part of the plans to make Tredomen Business and Technology Park a green energy hub, Ogi’s passive network uses less energy than traditional copper networks, offering higher, and more resilient broadband speeds to businesses based there at a lower cost to the environment and their bottom line.
Ogi’s Director of Business Sales, Andy Dow, commented “Business Parks like Tredomen are economically important to their regions, and it’s only right they have the same access to good connectivity as places like Cardiff and Newport.
“As more of us look to work closer to home, innovation can happen anywhere, and it’s important we invest in the foundations – the infrastructure that’s needed – to help these companies grow at scale. I’m delighted Ogi has been able to partner with Caerphilly Borough Council at Tredomen, helping to make the park more attractive to existing tenants and new companies moving in – and I can’t wait to see what those businesses do with this new technology.”
Powered by Nokia’s hardware, Ogi became the first UK Internet Service Provider (ISP) to deploy 25G PON commercially in 2022, offering 25Gbps symmetrical speeds to businesses at Tramshed Tech in Cardiff.
Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration and Climate Change of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said “We’re delighted with this new partnership with Ogi. Support for enhanced business connections is important for the Council – and we look forward to continuing this partnership.”
Launched in 2023, Ogi Pro is the Wales-based telco’s business arm, offering a range of digital products including connectivity, AI integration and managed services. Part of a £200million first phase rollout of new full fibre services, Ogi’s award-winning business services team is supporting growth not just in our cities, but across all parts of Wales and beyond.
