Contact tracing scheme
‘Test Trace Protect’ is now live in the Caerphilly county borough and across the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board region.
We urge anyone showing symptoms of coronavirus to book a test.
The scheme is a key part of Welsh Government’s Covid-19 recovery plan. It helps us to find a way to live and work alongside the virus, while containing its spread.
How the system works
The system works by:
- testing people who have coronavirus symptoms, and asking them to isolate from wider family, friends, co-workers and their community while waiting for a result
- tracing individuals who had close contact with someone that tested positive for coronavirus, while requiring them to take precautions and self-isolate for 14 days
- providing advice and guidance particularly where the person who tested positive or their contacts are vulnerable or at greater risk
- ensuring that if someone tests negative, they can return to work and their normal routines as soon as possible

All businesses have a responsibility to stay updated on the latest coronavirus guidance and ensure their employees know the processes around testing and contact tracing. To protect employees and customers, companies should ensure they are taking all reasonable steps to keep to social distancing law at work.
Guidance for self-employed people
The advice from Welsh Government is to continue working from home if possible. If this is not possible, guidance on Keeping Wales Safe at Work should be used.
Protect yourself from scams
Caerphilly Trading Standards service want residents to be aware of fraudsters who are falsely claiming to be from the new NHS track and trace team. As you will be aware a dedicated team of contact tracers have been tasked to track and trace the spread of the Covid-19 in the area.
Criminal fraudsters have used the current situation to illegally pose as tracers and have been attempting to obtain personal details for their own gain.
Trading standards want to remind you that at no time will the genuine tracers ask you for any financial details such as your PIN number or banking passwords. You will also not be visited personally by any of the trace and track team and any such visits should be reported to the police.
If you are contacted by these criminals then please ensure that you report the matter either to Action Fraud on 03001232040, Citizens Advice Consumer Services Helpline 0808 223 1133 or for Welsh language calls on 0808 223 1144 or Caerphilly Trading Standards on 01443 811300.
Please read this scams information sheet so you can tell the difference between a contact tracer and a scammer.
