How to dispose of asbestos

You can request a collection online or take the asbestos to a recycling centre.

We accept household asbestos at the following recycling centres only.

Asbestos has to be double bagged in:

  • 1000-gauge polythene or
  • double wrapped in 1000-gauge polythene.

On arrival, please inform the operatives that the bags contain asbestos. The operatives will show you which container to use.

Collection service

For a fee, we can collect asbestos from domestic properties within the county borough.

The service includes:

  • collection,
  • sealing of the sheets,
  • transportation to a temporary sealed storage skip before bulking
