How to dispose of asbestos
You can request a collection online or take the asbestos to a recycling centre.
We accept household asbestos at the following recycling centres only.
Asbestos has to be double bagged in:
- 1000-gauge polythene or
- double wrapped in 1000-gauge polythene.
On arrival, please inform the operatives that the bags contain asbestos. The operatives will show you which container to use.
Collection service
For a fee, we can collect asbestos from domestic properties within the county borough.
The service includes:
- collection,
- sealing of the sheets,
- transportation to a temporary sealed storage skip before bulking
- disposal at a licensed hazardous landfill site.

For collections the following week, please call 0300 123 9208 or email nwssp_hcscontrolhub@wales.nhs.uk before Thursday 5pm.
The above arrangement will apply to all clinical waste collections. This includes dialysis, diabetics or other general clinical waste.
