Becoming a shared lives carer

Shared Lives Carers share their home, family and community life with the person they are matched with, helping to develop and maintain independent living skills, friendships and connections in their local area. As a result, many of our carers develop a long term and rewarding relationship, welcoming the person into their family.

Our carers come from all walks of life and choose to care for a wide range of reasons. Formal experience of caring isn’t necessary, although enthusiasm, motivation and commitment are essential.

If you apply to become a Shared Lives Carer you will be supported through a thorough assessment process and will receive ongoing support from the Shared Lives team. Our carers are offered a range of training, and receive a fee for the arrangements they provide.

What can we offer you?

  • Flexibility to work from your own home.
  • A fulfilling and rewarding role.
  • Payment for the arrangement you provide.
  • Support and regular visits from one of our team.
  • Ongoing training opportunities.
