We work hard to ensure that the county borough is a healthy, safe and fair place for people to live and work, with reducing levels of crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.

We take steps to raise awareness and work closely with local traders to ensure that they understand what the law requires of them and that they comply with all of their legal obligations.

We expose and bring before the courts those individuals and businesses we discover acting illegally. We do not take the decision to prosecute lightly but when appropriate we will take action to provide protection to the public and to maintain a 'level playing field' for legitimate businesses to trade in the county borough.

We will also act against alcohol sellers who are in breach of their conditions of licence or are failing to uphold the objectives of the Licensing Act, and other legislation, by calling for a review of the licence by the Licensing Committee.
