Residents urged to register to vote

There's just three days left to register to vote in the 5 May 2022 local elections!
Caerphilly residents are being urged to keep an eye out for important voter registration information ahead of the Local Government Elections on May 5th.
The household notification letters relate to the upcoming local government elections to Caerphilly Council and town and community councils in Caerphilly Borough.
The letters will ensure electoral records are correct, detail how to add/change any entries and urge those who are not registered to vote do so before the deadline of midnight on Thursday, April 14.

The council is particularly keen to ensure that 16/17-year-olds and foreign nationals are registered to vote. Following the introduction of new legislation in Wales, anyone aged 16 or over on May 5 and legally resident in Wales can take part in the elections.
These will also be the first elections to be administered on the new boundary arrangements. Voters may be casting their ballot in a different electoral ward to the one which they have previously voted in. Some wards have changes while some remain the same. Further information will be provided in the run up to the elections.
Caerphilly will also be taking part in the flexible voting pilot and details of how voters can vote ahead of May 5th will be announced in the coming weeks, this site will be operational between 10am and 4pm.
Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm.
If you are not going to be able to go to a polling station to vote, you can apply to vote by post or proxy.
