Ukrainian guests to Caerphilly county borough and their hosts are invited to attend a special welcome and networking evening next week.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is hosting a ‘Welcome to Caerphilly’ evening at its headquarters, Penallta House on Tuesday 3rd May 2022 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

The Welcome to Caerphilly evening will offer an opportunity to meet fellow hosts and guests, as well as a variety of support, guidance and information from a number of different organisations, who will be on hand to support both hosts and guests over the coming months.

Following a short welcome, guests will be invited to visit a number of information stands from organisations including:

  • Department for Work and Pensions – offering support with benefits applications
  • DBS checking (for any that remain outstanding)
  • CCBC school admissions – including support with free school meals applications, uniform grants, school transport etc
  • Adult Education team and local colleges – offering information and support on English as a Second Language (ESOL) and other short courses available locally
  • CCBC Caerphilly Cares team – highlighting triage support on offer, signposting to local community groups and volunteering opportunities
  • Social Services – to answer any safeguarding queries or questions
  • Aneurin Bevan University Health Board – offering information on GP registration and screening processes
  • And many more…

Light refreshments will also be provided, as well as an excellent opportunity for hosts and guests to meet others, and help build upon the friendships and networks that are already beginning to establish across the county borough.
