Caerphilly’s Little Cheese Festival a huge success for the second year running

The Little Cheese Festival took place for the second year over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd September. Caerphilly Town Centre recorded an incredible 17,737 visitors, over 7,000 more people than last year. Over 38,000 visitors were also recorded at Castle Court Shopping Centre, and the event weekend recorded over 13,000 more people in the town than the previous weekend.

In attendance, there were over 150 food, drink, and craft stalls as well as all the local businesses that line the high street and Castle Court Shopping Centre.

The Little Cheese brought opportunities for small and local businesses within Caerphilly County Borough to be recognised for their talent and outstanding performances, all of which was enjoyed thoroughly by visitors.

Sarah and Gareth of Crafty Legs Events commented “Wow, what an event to be part of. We loved every minute of it, seeing so many people enjoying our town and supporting so many local small businesses was amazing. We feel so proud to be part of such an amazing 2 days. Roll on the Christmas events!”

Christopher Hall of Caerphilly Artisan Market said “It may have been called the Little Cheese, but there was nothing little about this year’s festival. It was fantastic, Caerphilly shone. There were so many happy faces, lots of laughter, dancing in the High St. It was amazing, all the small business who joined us at Caerphilly Artisan Market was blown away. A perfect weekend, in a beautiful town. Well done to everyone involved and thank you.”

Susan Fiander-Woodhouse of Blaenafon Cheddar Company commented “The festival was such a Gouda day, with Feta weather than expected. Although our stock was Caerphilly planned, we were all Cheesed out!! It was a truly incredible weekend.”

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration & Climate Change, said “People came out in their thousands for this years Little Cheese Festival, and it was awesome to see the streets alive. Traders have posed this as their best event of the year, sales wise, so holding the event more in the town centre definitely helps. Feedback from residents has been in support of fun attractions that have been added this year. A family – friendly atmosphere and brilliant music!”
