The Tour of Britain is officially returning to the county borough on Sunday 10th September

The Tour of Britain is officially returning to the county borough on Sunday 10th September.
The world-class sporting event will draw to a conclusion in Caerphilly Town Centre.following 8 intense stages of racing spanning across the UK. With the action being broadcast on live television coverage (ITV4) – the event will showcase Caerphilly on the world stage as riders enter the borough via Nelson, pass through Llanbradach and complete two laps of Caerphilly Mountain before crossing the finish line in front of the iconic castle.
Here are the full details (including road closures) that will allow residents to plan ahead.
Riders will enter the county borough via the A4054, taking a right at the roundabout to join the A472 (Pontypridd Road) towards Nelson.

The rolling road closure ends at the meeting point between Pontygwindy Road and Castle Street junction.
Caerphilly Town Centre and the surrounding area will require longer closures to facilitate with the additional laps of Caerphilly Mountain and to also accommodate the Finish Line and gantry. This will be located on Cardiff Road near the Twyn Car Park.
Caerphilly town centre temporary road closures (Sunday 10th September):
Cardiff Road: 04:45 – 20:00
Castle Street: 14:00 – 17:00
Nantgarw Road: 14:00 – 16:00*
Crescent Road – Park Lane: 14:30 – 16:45*
Mountain Road – Heol Cae Barrau: 14:00 – 15:30*
*Dependent on race time finishing.*
Additionally, one-way traffic will only be permitted on Bartlett Street, Caerphilly in an easterly direction between Cardiff Road and White Street between 04:00 and 20:00.
In the coming weeks, residents will be made aware of the potential disruption through our main communication channels such as social media and our email delivery system. The event organisers will also be running a leaflet drop featuring the attached documents, communicating the effected roads and timings.
