Caerphilly Borough’s final Winter Fair of the year is a huge success, breaking footfall records
The final Winter Food and Craft Fair which took place in Bargoed Town Centre on Saturday 10th December has been deemed a huge success with an outstanding number of just over 7,000 visitors in attendance, this being the highest footfall on record for an event in Bargoed.

Although the weather was cold and crisp, thousands came out to enjoy the final Christmas fair of 2022. With over 5,500 more people in the town compared to the Saturday before, this was also the busiest day of the year for the town centre meaning local businesses were also positively impacted by the turn out to the event.

There were a huge selection of stalls selling food, drinks, gifts, and crafts, as well as Santa and his sleigh, live performances and entertainment, children’s fair rides, and of course the Bargoed roller skating rink which was new for this year!

Hear what local businesses thought about the event:

Ricci’s Café commented “We were very happy with the position we had this year in the calendar, as the event being closer to Christmas meant that it was busier. There was a lot of movement out on the street and a lot of customers we hadn’t seen before. It was well organised, there was a good selection of kids’ rides and stalls, the traders were in the right place at the right time and the weather was good for us.”

Alex at Hancox’s Pies commented “The Bargoed event for us was, as with all other events, perfect. It was cheerful, with lots of customers – especially when the entertainers stopped in front of our stall!”

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration & Climate Change, said “The Bargoed Winter Fair was another great success. The highest footfall we have on record for this event as well as for the year. I’d like to thank everyone for their efforts. The events team, traders, Bargoed Town Council, and residents working together to ensure things went really well.”
