That’s a ‘wrap’ on Operation Santa 2022!
Posted on : 17 Jan 2023
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Operation Santa Appeal has once again received a phenomenal response from residents, schools and businesses.
Similar to last year, Operation Santa accepted
pledges of cash or gift vouchers to ensure that families in most need were able to benefit from the popular annual appeal.
These generous donations meant that well over a thousand children and young people across the county borough received a special festive surprise on Christmas day.
The council also received generous gift donations from a number of businesses and these were provided to five local charities - Platform, Homestart, Llamau, Action for Children and Ty’r Fesen homeless centre.
The appeal, which opened to the public in November, already had a number of businesses signed up to participate; these included Creditsafe, Link Financial, Kearns Solicitors and many more.
A large contribution was also made by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Members who donated £600 in total.
Staff from the council’s Communications Team worked hard to sort all of the vouchers and gifts on Thursday 8 December, organising all of the donated gifts into age categories in preparation for delivery to the children in time for Christmas.
Cllr Elaine Forehead, Cabinet Member for Social Care commented, “Operation Santa would not be successful or even possible without the kindness and generosity of our residents, schools and local businesses. With many still feeling the effects of the Pandemic and with the current cost of living crisis, 2022 has been difficult for everyone and because of that, it was more vital than ever to ensure that children received a gift on Christmas morning; my sincere thanks to everyone who supported this worthy cause.”
With special thanks to: Property Services, Blackwood Methodist Church, Ceris Rees, Victoria Gauden, Boys from the Brad, Blackwood Comprehensive School, Plasyfelin Primary School and many more
