Risca Leisure Centre ATP – update

We are aware of social media activity in relation to the Artificial Turf Pitch (ATP) at Risca Leisure Centre and wish to clarify the situation.
The current ATP pitch is approaching the end of its lifespan and the Council is currently exploring options at the site. This is consistent with our approach at other sites within our Sport & Leisure service to ensure that we are providing modern, fit for purpose facilities that meet the needs of our communities in line with our Sport & Active Recreation Strategy 2019-29.
To ensure that this strategic facility continues to provide high quality facilities for both school and community use, improvement options are currently being explored. Ground investigation works will take place over the summer period which will then allow us to share proposals on the way forward once this work is concluded.
The ATP is still open for use as normal and we will keep the community updated.
