Road closure – Rhymney Riverbridge works

During routine highway structure inspections, depressions have been identified within the carriageway at Rhymney Riverbridge on the A469 near Bargoed. These depressions are the result of thermal movements within the structure.
To rectify this issue, Caerphilly County Brough Council intends to construct reinforced concrete ballast walls at each abutment to retain the fill material and support the carriageway surfacing.
Works shall commence on the 22nd July 2023 for an anticipated duration of 6 weeks to coincide with lower traffic flows during the school summer holidays. The A469 shall be closed in both directions during the works with a diversionary route via the A4049 Pengam Road and A472.
