Ffiliffest 2022

A free entry fun-packed festival will take over the Owain Glyndwr Playing Fields on Crescent Road, Caerphilly on Saturday June 11th.

Ffiliffest is Menter Caerffili’s summer celebration of the Welsh language and of local Welsh culture and the event will include performances, entertainment, activities, workshops, food and drink stalls and a chance to buy produce from local businesses. The event returns for the first time in two years and it will be a fun-filled day for the whole community!

Menter Caerffili has worked closely with Caerphilly County Borough Council, community groups and performers to plan the event which is unique to the area.  Hundreds of local school children have been preparing and practising traditional Welsh folk dancing to stage the largest performance in the county as one of the highlights of the event.

This year the festival goes on untill 7pm, with performances by Welsh language musicians Martyn Geraint, Allan yn y Fan, Catrin Herbert, Paid Gofyn, TeiFi, Iestyn Gwyn Jones a’r band, Plu, Eadyth, Candelas as well as performances by local children and young people.

There will be gift stalls, and various food and drinks stalls including vegetarian food and a beer and cider bar. Many activities and fun educational workshops will also be at the event including an arts and craft tent, a retro video games area as well as sporting activities.

Bethan Jones-Ollerton of Menter Caerffili explains the reasons behind holding the event:
“At Ffiliffest, we welcome people of all ages to enjoy the Welsh language and culture in a fantastic setting. This event provides opportunities for people to make contact with the language and to enjoy a variety of activities regardless of language ability. We are really excited to see this event grow year by year.”

We are extremely grateful to our main sponsors, Welsh Government, Arts Council for Wales, Caerphilly County Borough Council and Brecon Carreg.

Ffiliffest takes place on Saturday, June 11th between 12pm - 7pm the Owain Glyndwr Playing Fields, Crescent Road, Caerphilly.
