The Annual Summer Reading Challenge returns for 2024
Posted on : 28 Jun 2024
The Summer Reading Challenge is the UK's biggest ‘reading for pleasure’ programme for children and helps get approximately 700,000 children into libraries each year.
The Summer Reading Challenge is produced by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with Caerphilly libraries. The challenge, aimed at children aged 4 - 11 years, is to read six or more library books over the summer.
This year children will join the Marvellous Makers who are busy getting creative for a big festival…but the objects they need have mysteriously disappeared. Children will help the Marvellous Makers find the objects they need to complete their creations.
Join the challenge by signing up at your local library, borrow your first book and get reading. Children can choose the books they want to read, recording what they had read along the way. All library staff and volunteers are on hand to chat to children about the books they have read.
For every book read, children will pick up stickers along with other rewards as they progress through the challenge. If you complete the challenge, every child will receive a medal and certificate.
It’s a free, fun and great way to keep children reading over the summer holidays. Keep up to date with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge by following Caerphilly Libraries on
