Snow update - 8th March 2023
Posted on : 08 Mar 2023
Snow update - availability of council services, road and school closures.
We are likely to face further issues this evening and overnight due to increasing levels of snowfall and a drop in temperature.
Roads
Our gritters continue to operate around the clock, gritting almost 500km of highways across 8 main strategic routes. We also have over 900 grit bins for community use on side streets. Refuse and recycling collections
Most waste and recycling collections have been completed and we plan to catch up on any missed areas tomorrow (eg rear lanes, inaccessible side roads etc), so residents should leave any missed bins out for collection.
Schools
76 schools were closed today following risk assessments of each site. Parents are advised to check our school closure page in the morning for the latest updates:
Please take care, particularly if you are travelling over the next few hours.
