Bargoed May Fair deemed a huge success, drawing thousands of visitors to the town
Bargoed Town Centre was bustling with activity on Saturday the 4th of May as the Bargoed May Fair was held.

Almost 100 trade pitches set up shop at the fair for thousands of visitors to enjoy. The event made it the busiest day for the town so far this year with people even travelling from as far as Swansea and Gloucester to enjoy the day.

As well as trade pitches, there was a lot of other entertainment such as animal displays, giant inflatable games, tv characters, and Punch and Judy shows to name just a few.

The quirky cars were a huge hit … Transformers Bumble Bee ZL1, Stranger Things Jeep, Eleanor Mustang, Back to the future Delorean, Hardtop Pink Cadillac, MUTTS Cuts - Dumb & Dumber Film Car, Little Tykes Toy Car, 1989/1992 batmobile replica, Lightning McQueen, Postman Van, UK JP29 Jurassic Park Jeep and Ghostbusters Ecto 1 were all in attendance and a real crowd puller!

Local businesses were also immensely supported throughout the day as new and old customers paid a visit to many of them.

Hear what local businesses and traders said about the fair:

Anthony Strinati of The New Continental Café said, “The outdoor seating was great!  Whole event was fantastic, tremendous amount of people in town, the atmosphere was brilliant!”

Jude Voyle from Barnardo’s commented “Wonderful day with the sun shining on us, seeing the community and visitors coming in from other areas and supporting the town and Barnardo’s.  These events definitely provide a much-needed boost for our town.  Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put the event together.”

Anne Elsdon of Little Things Babywear / Fancy Treats said, “Lovely turnout, lots of happy people, fabulous day!”

John Griffiths from J.D.S Antiques also commented “Great event, nice to see the amount of people in town, saw lots of new faces and customers, really good day!!!”

The Lemoneers said “Thanks for 2 great shows to start off the year, both being my 2 best ever shows!”

Barrelled Over said “We actually had a pretty good day, the best in a while and very much needed confidence boost! So well organised and advertised too, we met plenty from out of area, including as far as Gloucester so great job! We look forward to booking our next event all being well again soon!”

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration, and Climate Change commented “It was great to see Bargoed very busy again at the May Fair. We would like to thank all the residents, traders and volunteers who made sure the event was a success.”

Howard Llewellyn, Mayor of Bargoed Town Council, has also commented “What a fabulous day we all had at Bargoed May Fair. Everything was so positive, from the great weather to the extraordinary crowd. This was all thanks to the event planning and execution by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Events Team and the wonderful contribution from Crafty Legs who organised the market stalls. I would like to thank Bargoed Town Council for their financial contribution, enthusiastic support and commitment to events such as this which increases High Street footfall and supports residents and local traders in Bargoed.”
