Caerphilly Council shortlisted for two prestigious Welsh Housing Awards
Caerphilly County Borough Council is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Welsh Housing Awards.

The annual awards, hosted by the Chartered Institute of Housing in Wales (CIH Cymru), celebrate the achievements and innovation made across the housing sector in Wales and the impact they have on the lives of so many.

Shortlisted for ‘Housing Team of the Year’ is the Council’s Tenancy Support Service who dedicate their time to supporting some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents during times of financial difficulty.  The team’s commitment has particularly been demonstrated throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and amidst the current cost of living crisis.

The Council has also been shortlisted for its approach to ‘Communications in a Crisis’ for the way that housing staff worked flexibly and adapted its approaches to find innovative ways to reach all tenants during the Covid-19 pandemic.  This was vital in getting key messages to tenants and making them aware of changes to services, but also ensuring that no vulnerable person was left without support during what was an extremely challenging time for many.

Cllr Shayne Cook, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said “The Welsh Housing Awards truly demonstrate the cream of the crop when it comes to delivering housing and support services in Wales.  To be shortlisted for two categories this year is an incredible honour and demonstrates the efforts of the Caerphilly Homes team in going the extra mile to support tenants; I’d like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”
