£3000 given to food waste recyclers in Caerphilly
Posted on : 19 Oct 2022
Caerphilly County Borough has given away £3000 in cash in the first six months of their Mash for Cash campaign.
Ms Taylor from Abercarn have been announced as the latest winners of the year-long campaign, which sees houses within the borough monitored with one food recycling participant chosen at random each month, with each winner receiving £500.
The campaign aims to increase food waste recycling participation, with current participation levels currently around 40% throughout the Borough. Whilst also redistribute public funding back into the community during the cost-of-living crisis.
Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Waste, Leisure & Green spaces added: “Congratulations to Ms Taylor and all our previous winners. We are so happy to see another food waste recycler awarded for their contribution to the Council’s commitment to reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases and thereby contributing to the national and global goals for decarbonisation.
“We are now halfway through our year-long Mash for Cash campaign, so there are still plenty of chances for new and current food waste recyclers to claim the cash prize.”
