Roadworks - A469 and Bristol / Station Terrace Junction, Brithdir

Following an inspection of the above photographed retaining wall to the west of the A469, CCBC Structures Department have arranged for the following:

  • Vegetation removal to be undertaken along the top of the wall
  • Removal of all the existing masonry cladding which will be replaced with new
  • Maintenance of the drainage provision to the rear of the wall.

The work will be undertaken by CCBC Structures Department’s Term Service Contractor.  The Contractor set up one way traffic movements controlled by three-way signalised traffic management starting on Monday 24th October.

During this time there will be a localised lane closure in place to the northbound lane of the A469 to enable a safe area for the contractor to erect their working platforms to undertake the vegetation removal and undertake the cladding works.  The duration for this maintenance works has been estimated to be 6 weeks.

We apologise for the short notice.  We have been liaising with Dwr Cymru / Welsh Water (DC/WW) for some time and have been waiting for an appropriate opportunity to undertake this essential maintenance works.  You will be aware that DC/WW have ongoing works within this area which has previously clashed with our planned programme of works.

We appreciate the impact the traffic management will have on traffic flows in the immediate vicinity.  I would be grateful for your forbearance until this works can be completed and apologise for any inconvenience caused to travelling members of the public.
