A blueprint for service improvement
Posted on : 20 Oct 2023
Caerphilly County Borough Council has unveiled its five key priority areas for the next 5 years in a major new strategy which provides a blueprint for the way the council delivers services in future.
A draft document, called the Corporate Plan 2023 - 2028, has been published this week and councillors will be asked to consider the key contents over the coming weeks.
Local authorities have a statutory duty to agree a list of key priorities called ‘Wellbeing Objectives’, which set out what the council hopes to achieve on behalf of its communities.
Caerphilly’s draft Well-being Objectives for 2023-2028 are:
Enabling our Children to Success in Education
Enabling our Residents to Thrive
Enabling our Communities to Thrive
Enabling our Economy to Grow
Enabling our Environment to be Greener
Cllr Sean Morgan, Leader of Caerphilly Council welcomed the publication of the draft plan, “Our Corporate Plan sets out our direction, priorities and objectives for the next 5 years and the new Well‐being Objectives help us shape services, target resources and prioritise our efforts.”
“Since our last Corporate Plan in 2018 we have faced unprecedented challenges including a global pandemic, the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and significant and far-reaching reductions in budgets.”
We know we must adapt to meet the challenges we face, focusing on flexibility and finding different ways to deliver what our communities need, when they need it. To do this we must engage with our communities to understand the needs of our residents and provide the right support to meet those needs.”
“Through our Corporate Plan we can take positive and progressive steps to deliver the services our communities need.”
The draft plan will be considered by the council’s Joint Scrutiny Committee next week (Thursday 26 October) before progressing to Cabinet and Full Council for final agreement.
