Sue Noake and Risca Hockey Clubs Receive Defibrillators from RALPHH Charity in partnership with Hoci Cymru
Posted on : 08 Oct 2024
Sue Noake and Risca Hockey Clubs, based at Caerphilly County Borough Councils Sue Noake Leisure Centre’s Hockey Hub in Ystrad Mynach, have become the fifth and sixth clubs in Wales to receive life-saving defibrillators. The defibrillators were donated by RALPHH Charity in partnership with Hoci Cymru, as part of a nationwide initiative to enhance safety for players and members during training and matches.
The defibrillators, presented on Wednesday 2nd October, will be kept pitch-side for both home and away games, providing immediate emergency support should it be required. This vital equipment will contribute to ensuring the health and well-being of all those involved in hockey at both clubs.
The RALPHH Charity, founded in memory of Robert Allen and officially recognised in 2019, has already supported the distribution of 19 defibrillators across the UK, working closely with England Hockey and other governing bodies. Now, Welsh clubs are benefiting from the charity’s efforts to provide defibrillators free of charge to ensure greater safety in sports environments.
Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Leisure, praised the initiative, saying: "The health and safety of our community is paramount, and having these defibrillators available pitch side at the Hockey Hub in Ystrad Mynach and for away games will give us peace of mind. We are grateful to RALPHH Charity and Hoci Cymru for their support in making our sports facilities safer for everyone involved."
The defibrillators are provided free of charge to hockey clubs across Wales, with clubs interested in receiving one encouraged to contact on 0300 300 3126 or

. Donations in lieu of receiving a device can be made through the RALPHH Charity website to support the initiative
