Caerphilly's Cabinet supports employee wellbeing
Posted on : 15 Sep 2021
Caerphilly’s Cabinet unanimously approved proposals for the introduction of a staff benefits package designed to support employee Health and Wellbeing, as part of the ongoing Team Caerphilly Transformation Programme.
The staff benefits package will be delivered by the MyAdvantages platform, by Edenred, at no cost to the authority, as it is accessed by the National Procurement Service framework. The platform is set to complement the existing offers available to staff such as childcare vouchers and the cycle to work scheme.
The platform also enables local businesses across Caerphilly county to promote their businesses and offers directly to employees further strengthening the authorities commitment to encouraging staff and residents to shop local.
Cllr. Colin Gordon, Cabinet Member for Corporate Governance, said, “Throughout the pandemic staff from every corner of the organisation have contributed significantly to the work of the Council and to the delivery of services across our communities during some very difficult times. The loyalty and commitment shown by staff has been exceptional and the introduction of this scheme will go some way give something back to those that have contributed so much. The benefits scheme may also offer financial support to those who have been affected financially by the pandemic or times of austerity.”
He added, “We fully recognise the links between employee wellbeing, including financial wellbeing, and business performance. A healthy workplace, that promotes a state of contentment, benefits both employees and the organisation.”
