Local company, Drumlord Limited, supported by UKSPF grants to elevate their business
Drumlord Limited is a local Rapid Prototyping Bureau specialising in 3D Printing, Additive Manufacturing and Vacuum Casting to supply high quality models, prototypes, and low volume manufactured parts to companies in a wide range of industrial sectors.

Drumlord started in 1981 and currently employs 12 local people. The business has recently been supported by CCBC and the UK Government with Drumlord receiving a total of £37,513.00 through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund on two occasions from 2022 to 2024.

The first grant of £12,600 was dedicated towards Drumlord through Caerphilly County Borough Council’s intervention of UKSPF funds in 2022/23. The grant was match funded by the company to reinforce their IT structure. These funds allowed the company to send work from order to workshop electronically, as well as bill the customer directly and more accurately as the order would be programmed in and costs calculated at the same time.

The second grant of £24,913 in 2023/24 was received for building outlay work and workshop modifications to streamline workshop processes.

The remodelling of their production floor for production vacuum casting was needed to accommodate the ever-expanding client orders. The area has been split into areas to maximise quality for casting moulds and to produce bigger moulds.

Some of Drumlord’s clients include International Film & TV Studios, Panasonic, Sony, Emirates Airways etc. to name a few.

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration, and Climate Change commented “A tour of the business to see how this cutting – edge technology works was incredibly informative. It has been good to link up with Drumlord to help support them on their journey.”

Managing Director, Rob Aldridge, said “The award of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund Grants from Caerphilly County Borough Council helped us to invest in significant improvements to our Vacuum Casting department.  We were able to expand the facility and invest in improved ventilation, extraction and lighting which has had an immediate impact on our business.  Not only have we increased our production capacity, but the changes have improved efficiency and quality too, greatly benefitting our customers.”
